THC urine test

Thursday, January 1st, 2009

Tetrahydrocannabinol, also represented by the name THC, THC is the major psychoactive material originating in the Cannabis plant. THC urine test is currently frequently used for random job tests. This is the least luxurious of the test methods. 50 nanograms of THC metabolites for each milliliter defines a “presumptive positive” by National Institute on Drug Abuse specialized labs. So, to pass the test, you do not require encompassing completely clean urine you require encompassing fewer than 50 ng/ml of THC in your urine.

Drug poppy seed testing has become more prevalent in our society, and while urine or blood analysis is one of the best ways to do that, the test themselves are not always infallible and can sometimes produce skewed results. Indeed, something as innocuous as the poppy seeds on a bagel or muffin or in a slice of cake can make drug-free sample donors look like a heroine users.

Opiates can be detected in urine for at least 48 hours after one eats food containing poppy seeds. As a little as a single bagel covered with poppy seeds could produce a false positive test for these drugs.

Poppy seeds have both Codeine and Morphine and can produce false positives for Opiates in poppy seed drug test. Most Opiate urine tests contain a cut off level of 300 ng/ml.
Eating a single poppy seed bagel can make an opiate level anywhere around 250 ng/ml three hours later.
3 teaspoons of hoard purchased poppy seeds can result in 1200 ng/ml 6 hours later.

There have been reports of 70% of DOT opiate positives are from poppy seeds. The U.S. armed forces uses cut off levels of 3000 ng/ml in order to reduce fake positives.

The normal test for drug testing THC is a one step speedy, quality immunoassay for the recognition of tetrahydrocannabinol substances in urine. The cutoff concentration suggested by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration for a positive result in an immunoassay test is 50 ng/ml. The cutoff for GC-MS is generally 15 ng/ml.

Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is rapidly absorbed by breathing and the gastrointestinal tract by the use of THC drug testing. It is approximately totally metabolized. The main metabolite is 9-carboxy-11-nor-delta-9-THC, which is detected in the plasma, feces and urine all along with other substances. Very less concentrations of THC may be distinguished in urine during the preliminary several hours, but tetrahydrocannabinol perseveres in urine at an obvious concentration for a lot of days after smoking and after the ingestion of a single poppy seed bagel.
