Opium is the naturally occurring sedative which is extracted from the opium poppy. The tremendous role of this drug is to control the pain. Opium is prescribed to treat fevers, coughs and diarrhea. Moreover it is also used to treat patient’s pain in wide awake state itself. Opium addiction is the unmanageable longing to abuse on a habitual basis. Some people become addicted to the opium even their condition has resolved. They try to abuse illegally for the euphoric state. As the person becomes habitual their body develop tolerance to the drug thereby they require increased amount of the drug to compensate the recreational feeling.
