Role of ovulation testing in pregnancy

Ovulation is the process of releasing mature ovum from the ovarian follicle. Ovulation is triggered by the LH hormone produced by pituitary gland. In every menstrual cycle, number of ovarian follicle will develop to mature. Only one follicle will mature in to egg which is said to be dominant follicle where as others will recede. The mature egg is now released through fallopian tube to reach sperm for fertilization. Before the ovulation takes place LH surge is produced. LH surge triggers the discharge of egg for fertilization. LH is produced through out the menstrual cycle in meager amount. Ovulation occurs in the midst of the menstrual cycle.

Ovulation test is performed to detect the level of LH surge which tells about your fertility also known as fertility testing. Ovulation predicting kits are used to test for ovulation. Ovulation test predicts the day of ovulation in your body based on the basal body temperature. Knowing the ovulation time conception will be successful. The normal fertile period starts from 4-5 days prior to ovulation and ends after 24-48 hours of ovulation. This ovulation test aids to become pregnant.

Role of ovulation testing in pregnancy is important to plan for conception. Ovulation predictor kit aids in the detection of both LH and HCG. LH and HCG are glycoprotein hormones produced in the body. LH is produced is constantly produced where as HCG is produced only if the woman is pregnant. An ovulation test kit predicts both LH and HCG where as pregnancy test do not. It tests for only HCG.

Knowing the day of ovulation time it increases the chances for getting pregnant. To test for ovulation in home you require collecting urine sample. The best time to take urine ovulation test is in afternoon. If the result is positive for ovulation then chances for pregnancy is fair.
