Heroin is the highly addictive and more rapidly acting opiate drug. Heroin abusers are at high risk of developing many health hazards. People are least aware of the content in heroin. It is just processed from naturally occurring morphine and is marketed in brownish color or black color powder.
Heroin can administered via injection, sorting and by smoking. It depends on the convenience of the abuser. Heroin addiction leads to both short term effects and long term effects. Let us first focus on short term effects first.
Once heroin is injected it rapidly reaches the brain by crossing blood brain blockade. Heroin is changed to morphine and bind to the receptors for opiate which are located in the brain. Abusers experience the pleasure along with the surge “rush”. The power of surge “rush” is directly proportional to the speed of heroin reaching the brain and binds to the opiate receptor. The immediate and short term effects of heroin are nausea, severe itching and vomiting, warm flushing of the skin, dry mouth and heavy feeling. Moreover it lessens the cardiac function resulting in breathing difficulty. Short term effects can also leads to death or coma.
Long term effect is the chronic addiction of heroin. Body develops tolerance and seeks more and more heroin injection. It typically converts the neurochemical and molecular functions in the brain. It effectively makes abuser to crave for more drugs and also exhibits relapse in the case of absence. It leads to heart infection, collapsed veins, HIV/AIDS and certain bacterial infections.
Treating heroin addictors are more important. Drug testing centers uses urine testing for opiates, heroin drug test, and saliva drug testing detection. Drug testing centers employs either lab method or kit method to analyze the sample. Urine drug screen and urine drug test kit are used in drug testing centers.
