Drug addiction is caused by a number of illegal drugs whose number is increasing as newer compounds are being found. In the stage of preoccupation the person will start thinking about drugs all the time and try to find out newer ways to acquire the drug per national institute on drug abuse. As the addiction increases, the dose required for producing the same effects tends to increase and this finally ends up with the withdrawal symptoms. The individual will start losing interest in life and find himself in depression and may even go to the point of committing suicide. It is interesting to note that many celebrities in the states have committed suicide because of this.

yes, there are a great number of perscription drugs that have mild and helpful affects that are being abused.
