Drug Abuse – Phases Of Women’s Life – Random Drug Testing Policy

Drug abuse as defined by the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders mean it is a negative pattern of using a substance that leads to a number of problems that include needing more use of a drug to get intoxicated, difficulties that occur when the effects of the drug wear off, using more of a substance or for longer time period, and other life problems because of their use of drugs.

Statistics confirm that today more than four million women in US are addicted to drugs. This includes women of all culture, race, and even ages.

Almost woman between the age group of 15 to 44 have used drugs once in their lifetime. Of these, nearly two million used cocaine and marijuana has been used by six million women within the past year. It is interesting to know the fact that women drug abusers usually use more than one drug.

Teenage girls in the ages of 12 to 17 are using drugs and alcohol with increasing frequency nowadays. They match boys in illegal drug use and have outstripped boys in cigarette smoking and perverting prescription drugs.

It is reported that 1.6 million girls are having at least a major depressive episode. The number one choice of girls is Marijuana, which leads to symptoms of depressive disorder, and obviously this ranks the first. The other that fills the list includes pain killers, diet pills, and even more.

It is proved that drug abuse in women leads to dangerous health issues as the female physiology is considerably different than men.

Drug abuse is a serious illness, which is not cured easily.
