Drug Test For Smoking

Monday, October 13th, 2008

Smoking can be categorized as never smoke, seldom smoke, occasionally smoke, frequently smoke, always smoke. The following are the most popular reasons that were given by smokers:-
•    Smoking to keep self from slowing down.
•    Smoking is a pleasant and relaxing tool.
•    Handling cigars is an enjoyment in itself.
•    I smoke when I am upset.
•    When I run out of cigarettes, I am simply not comfortable.
•    I smoke impromptu and automatically and most of the time I am not aware I have started to smoke.
•    I feel perked when I smoke.
•    I love the route to smoking, especially the way I light it up.
•    I get a real hunger for cigars when I have not smoked for a while.
•    When my cares stress me, I smoke to take my mind off cares.
•    I love to let smoke shows in circles!
•    Many times I light up another cigar when I still have the old one in the tray.

Overall the reasons for smoking can be truncated to stimulation, handling, pleasure, relaxation, tension reduction, craving or a habit.  Whatever be the case, most employers are not happy about it, because they have realized smoking increases the money they need to spend on medical insurance for the smoking employee.  They do Cotinine tests, cotinine urine test, cotinine urine test kit, drug test for smoking, drug test nicotine etcetera to detect smoking.

Smoking tobacco causes the absorption of nicotine via the lung and the nasal epithelium.  After this occurs nicotine is metabolized in to approximately 20 different metabolic products and then it is excreted in the urine.  Cotinine is the major metabolite of this process and it accumulates in the body as a consequence of regular smoking. Cotinine has a longer half life than all other metabolites of approximately 17 hours.  The detection of cotinine is for this reason less dependent on the time the sample is collected.  Cotinine is one of the successfully used biomarker of tobacco.

There is no need to got for complicated testing methods to detect cotinine, there are several strip tests for detecting cotinine within minutes.  The confirmatory analysis can be done by GC, GC/MS, HPLC, HPLC-mass spectrometry, EIA and RIA later on.  Remember, passive smoking can cause more dangers than you can imagine.  Your spouse or kids who are nonsmoker can be quickly vulnerable to smoking related issues if you are a smoker. Quit smoking for the welfare of your family.

Why is Random corporate drug testing important?

The main goal of corporate drug testing lies with reducing the many number of on the job accidents that are widely happening around in the nation in various corporations. Drug abuse behavior can lead to absenteeism of an employee that will further lead to a long queue of work backlogs, and thereby causing decreased productivity and bad work quality.

Work place drug testing should be periodically reviewed by every company. A written drug policy is a crucial need for any work place and periodically bringing in amendments to the existing drug policy can help a lot in updating the testing methods with the latest and newly arriving testing methods. By doing periodic amendments to the workplace drug testing practices, the company achieves a sensible security event.

The “drug in place test work“ refers to the many tests and procedures that the company details in its policies to ensure that the drug use will not in anyway be tolerated in the work place; by doing so the many social and economic consequences of drug abuse can be prevented.

Though “random drug in place test work” is being greatly protested by employee the importance of the test to being random has been repeatedly stressed due to the growing number of detoxification processes adopted by people. Many companies have reported to have reduced the illicit drug usage among their employees to a major extent.

A detailed work place drug testing policy has a high likelihood of creating very less number of test positives. The investment in drug testing policies on employee is not going to vaporize, but it is going to cause a dramatic change in eradicating the abusive behavior of employees, which in turn is going to contribute to an overall productive environment.

Though pre-employment testing is a good idea, the results of such tests are going to be partial. In order for the drug-free policy to really be beneficial a standardized drug screening policy should be adopted by each company, and a random drug testing should be definitely a part of the policy. The highest overall benefit for drug tests has been attributed to random tests.

Test administrators that are monitoring any kind of workplace drug testing should be certified and should hold the appropriate credentials that entitle them with the efficiency to do the administration. Implementing random workplace drug testing on a frequent basis has repeatedly shown to lower the test positive in many organizations.

Nicotine test for life insurance

Tobacco urine test is becoming increasingly necessary for insurance policies. The premiums are more and coverage levels are less for smokers than for those that does not smoke. Some of the term polices and whole policies become very costly for those that show up high levels of nicotine in a smoking test after conducting a blood test for nicotine.

A life insurance exam definitely will consist of cigarette blood test or blood nicotine test which will identify traces of nicotine, which could have added up in the blood through the course of smoking that could have taken place in the past 7 days. If the nicotine test for the insurance is going to turn to be positive companies can either reject the application or they might consider to revise the rates and offer a bit costly premium stressing that the insurance applicant is a high risk applicant or they might just put the file on hold to notify the Medical Information Bureau of the positive result.

There are several detox methods available to beat the blood nicotine test for one to qualify a no nicotine candidate to eventually get a normal insurance policy. However, there are many possibilities for the insured to get caught under penalty if at some point in time the insured develops some nicotine related diseases and need for claims. Though a blood nicotine test or cigarette blood test can be flushed for results; hair tests are liable to confirm smoking behavior even after years of quitting. So, anyone that is attempting detox to tamper with true results; might have to consider the ample dangers involved in such practices.

If an insurance company is going to figure out or suspect candidates, at a later point in time, about some faked reports, law permits them to take additional tests like hair tests for nicotine and blood tests for nicotine with due permission from the Department of Insurance of the State and with some legal warrants from the County court. If the suspected insured is proved to be guilty, chances are that the insurance might be cancelled and all the premiums paid will be non-refunded and in some cases the guilty applicant will also be penalized. One such negative mark is likely to make future insurance policies more difficult. Life without insurance can mean lot of expenditure and insecurity!

Try to quit smoking. Get to see how the levels of nicotine shoot up instantly after a small relapse during smoking cessation. Try smoking cessation counseling and frequently monitor your nicotine levels by using nicotine tests during the periods of withdrawal and relapse.

Noninvasive Cotton drug swab test

Cotton drug swab test is a very small procedure. These tests are quick and noninvasive for purposes related to pre-hire and post hire employee testing for abusive drugs and alcohol. Many varieties of drugs like nicotine, alcohol, amphetamine, morphine, phencyclidine, THC, methamphetamine, and cocaine in the saliva can be tested using swab drug test.

Swab drug testing is a single step chromatographic assay strip that helps with qualitative analysis of metabolites of nicotine, alcohol, amphetamine, morphine, phencyclidine, THC, methamphetamine, and cocaine in the saliva, mostly within the drug detection times.

The advantage with drug fact saliva test is that unlike urine there is less possibility for the sample to get adulterated. There are many urine samples that will have to be redone over again due to mistaken results regardless of the test methods adopted. Saliva tests reduce the risk of having to repeat the tests over again due to wrong results.

The collection of sample for drug fluid oral test is quite simple. The person from whom the sample has to be taken should not have taken anything to eat or drink 10 minutes before the test can be done. If the person has had something over the past 10 minutes, the person will have wait for until 10 more minutes from the time of having had something orally before they can donate the sample.

The swab drug testing is very simple; the donor to be tested will be required to place the swab sublingually, below the tongue after 10 to 15 minutes as per the instruction sheet. After the swab has absorbed the sample the swab will be put in to a small specimen vial that is sealable. The vial containing the specimen sample should be sent to the laboratory for further testing.

The sample of saliva collected in the swab in the specimen vial will be tested further by running the samples in the appropriate testing strip. It should be noted that all the specimens that are being collected for testing should be treated as infectious and should be discarded in sealed packages after the testing is over.

Until now there are no specific methods to cause detoxification of oral fluids. Though there are some detox procedures that claim that they can flush and dilute oral samples, they are just not really effective detoxification methods. It is for this reason that swab drug testing is considered a bit effective than urine testing.
